Meeting Up With New Friends

met up with juggies, aason, shaun and april today at town… all cs-buddies… haha… was supposed to be only aason, juggies and me… but shaun was too bored at home, so he decided to join us at a later time… april came to join us while we were playing pool… was pretty bored after pool, so juggies suggested going for a drink… he brought us to a pub opposite Hardrock Cafe… ambience-wise, it wasnt that great… but the beer was pretty cheap tho… $10/jug since it was a tuesday… but it was pretty crowded for a tuesday night… took a cab back with shaun after that… i think there will be another outing next fri…

Day Trip to Kukup

the Kukup that i remembered was one that was some old wooden kelongs situated on the sea itself… wooden planks line the walkway, and everyone is staying in houses built out of wood… this would be what i remembered from the trip i made many years back… so when i was asked if i wanted to go, i wasnt really keen as i wasnt sure whats there to do… i was sure i would be dead-bored especially when not many of my cousins were going… it wasnt till i went there did i realised how much the place has changed and i got a better idea of the relatives who were staying there… and little did i know that was going to have a day of fun at kukup…

left the house at around 8.30 so u can roughly guess what time i had to wake up (mind u, i had a wedding dinner last night so slpt pretty late)… ting and anthony picked auntie kum, mum and me up from my lobby… went over to ting’s area for breakfast and met up with the rest of the gang (my uncle, aunt, and chuan)… picked up qiao mei (she’s technically my aunt at 37yrs old but i dont know how else to call her) from her place at boon lay and entered malaysia thru the 2nd link… surprisingly there wasnt much of a traffic even though it was a Saturday… it was bout a 2hour drive once we crossed the customs… when we arrived, we had seafood lunch… yummy =X … chilli crabs, deep fried sotong, wheat prawns, fish, toufu, sambal kangkong :D … super nice… been such a long time since i ate such a sumptious meal… heehee…

went i walked thru the entrance, i was suprised to see that the wooden planks that once made up the walkway was now concrete ground… and alot of the new residentials were concrete, modern houses… they looked so nice… u can see the contrast between the new residentials and the old ones… concrete vs wood… there’s even some chalet-type resorts, that is used to accomodate tour groups or frenz who decide to take a trip together… my granduncles own a fishery there, so we took the boat out to the fishery to have a tour… so many types of fishes that im used to see in the market or on the plate during meals, they have them reared there ^^ … the baby fishes as well… heehee… its a lot of work maintaining the fishery from what i see… just by looking at the work they have to do just to prepare the feed is scary enough… but its pretty fun… i just like being surrounded by water… fresh air and cool breeze…. =) even though my granduncles are at least 55, they are still so fit… haha… they are very nice too… gave us a bucket-full of fishes to bring home… haha…

when we got back to shore, my uncle showed me how they catch prawns/shrimps… i had a firsthand experience raising the net as well as using a super heavy net to scoop up the prawns… pretty tiring but fun nonetheless…

played with my little nephew for awhile in the house then went for a short walk with mum around the village to take some photos and take a look around… took a lot of photos :D and did alot of walking… i think that little tour took almost 1hour or so… haha.. lalalala… seems like that the villagers are pretty friendly and they seem to know everybody… alot of the households have heaps of shrimps laid out in the sun to dry… they look like the dried shrimps we buy and see in the markets, just that they seem a different colour from the one we eat… those i saw were pink but those we were used to seeing are pale orange… hmmz… i wonder whats the difference… along the way, chuan, ting and anthony passed by us and showed us the fireworks they bought :D … cool man!!! never played with fireworks before so it would really be fun and an eye-opener… but we got to wait till dark tho…

when mum and i got back, they were preparing to leave :( … cant see the fireworks in the dark now… we didnt want to waste the fireworks since they cost a fair bit, so we just lighted them up and played… haha… i even played a handheld one… wasnt that bad… we went over to the other granduncle’s house in the same village, just that it was at the other end… stayed there till bout 7 and the sun was setting… such a beautiful view though… was walking to the entrance of the village when we passed by a house selling fried prawn crackers… its different from the ones we find in singapore… they are much more tasty and crispy… i think we ordered a total of 40 pieces… lolz… the 9 of us did managed to finish them up without a fuss… chuan went to buy a couple more fireworks to play with while waiting for the food to come… haha… it was so beautiful… i took some photos and videos so will post when i got the time…

we did some shopping at the row of shops outside… all were food though… haha… crackers, nuts, coconut pudding, dried stuff… haha… left the place bout 9 plus and got back to singapore around 10.30pm…

we had dinner at boon lay near qiao mei’s place… there’s this famous nasi lemak which had a really long queue… queued for around 20min… its pretty good… nice :D but a little costlier than other places…

by the time we got back, it was almost 12… damn tired… but i really enjoyed myself… from not wanting to go became really itching to go again =pPp … maybe one day can organise an overnight trip for my gatherings… it will be somewhere new ;)

Congratulations to Daniel and Jaclyn

rushed off from school during the break to attend daniel’s and jaclyn’s wedding dinner at Oriental Mandarin…

 was just in time to attend the solemnisation ceremony held at one of the rooms… its my first time attending this ceremony as i usually only arrive for the dinners =pPp

met so many people that i have not met for such a long time, namely those distant relatives, aunties and uncles and cousins i hardly know… everyone arrived before the dinner and new introductions were made ^^ … so many of them seems to be attached already… tian is attached to sebastian… ting with anthony… alvin also has a girlfriend… hahaa… everyone is attached cept me :( :P …

the dinner was pretty good… dishes were different from the usual dishes served in other chinese weddings… usually the dinners would serve whole fish as a dish, but this time round, fish slices were served instead… and the dessert would usually be some chinese dessert such as yam paste etc, but this time, it was some mousse…

dinner ended quite late though… we were done around 11.30pm… wanted to join seng they all for a drink but have to wake up early in the morning so nahx =X

i will post the photos taken during the wedding in a bit… anyway, best wishes to the new couple and wish that they have a blissful and happy marriage… and all the best for a new chapter in their lives =)

Some Things To Update

just a few issues to update for the past week or so… i know i haven really been updating… not that im too busy and stuff but just didnt have the m00d to blog…

studied with jo n cyn at the amk mac in the afternoon before going over to firdaus house last saturday for some gathering… nice of him to invite me since we only started talking recently… khai and gang also went for the gathering… was pretty fun… playing some old card games and the f00d was good… =)

went to the fund-raiser at bishan park with khai to meet up with sarah… fx and azimah came to look for us and we went to suntec for dinner… ate at Secret Recipe… taste-wise was good except that the portion was a little small =( all of us were starving !!! =pPp … didnt walk around as everyone was pretty tired after a whole day… went over to khai’s place to watch soccer for the second week running… we also managed to do some catching up on whats new in our lives…

sis passed her TP on her first attempt on friday… congrats !!! althought that would mean one more person waiting to use the car -.- … auntie kum also came back to SG that night… and i got some great gifts from her, not to mention the 2 l/s shirts, the zune (which im totally having fun with) and the birks which hasnt arrived, so she would have to send it to me by air mail when she gets back, unless uncle john is sending it right now =pPp

went to PSA building for dim sum and vivo to do some shopping today… bought a pants and a t-shirt today… heeX… still thinking if im going to get the singlet from NUM tho… i really like it but not sure if its worth the price of it… haiz…

ohh… i totally like the song “What Hurts The Most” by Rascal Flatts… i think its so true (well at least for me)… so kudos to khai for sending me the song… haha… i embeded the mv as well as the song lyrics like i always do in the earlier post so listen and enjoy…

will update more as and when i feel like it =)
