just got back from camp this evening… its finally the end of 3weeks of ICT 2009 and that means i’ve cleared another “high-key” (5more to go)… a rather eventful 3weeks… a new unit for me, 680 SIR… new experience as a Bn as well as my first ATEC Stage 2, and a new vocation as well…
a brief introduction to when i first received my call-up notification email… i was shocked to see that i was called back for ATEC so soon into my reservice unit life as usually, ATEC 2 is done during the 6th or 7th year… so seeing that its ATEC 2, that would mean my unit was already into its 6th, 7th year…
ok, fast forward to the present time… just going to mention the highlights of this ICT…
first week was Commanders’ Week… only specialists and officers came 1week ahead of the rest… was pretty slack… did some recce here and there and that was about it… friday was CO Parade… and i was actually made one of the flag-parties… raising of the SAF Flag… new experience for me… live-range after that… had a IPPT test on sat morning… i failed !!! how i failed chin-ups and only managed to do 30 sit-ups remains a mystery to me…
second week was when the main body started their ICT… recce and BME and preparation for ATEC took up the whole week… was very busy pushing thru all those preparations…
third week started off with ATEC on a monday morning and ended during the wee hours of friday… it was supposed to be a 4D3N exercise, but ended up stretching to 4D4N… didnt slp a wink on friday as we were all busy unpacking and clearing our stores as soon as we hit the bunk from the exercise… ATEC was very tough… and its the toughest that i have gone through so far, both mentally and physically, in my army life… luckily, we had each other to support and help out… and today, we had the debrief for both the ICT as well as the ATEC 2… we managed to get a good grade of Redcon 2A… thats not a bad score…
throughout these 3 weeks… made a lot of new friends together with kevin… we managed to blend into the new environment and mix around with the rest of the Bn, especially those in our platoon… my newly formed team, Team Foxtrot consist of kevin, me and 2 more guys kelvin and guoliang… nice ppl these 2 guys are… we will all be meeting up for seafood dinner next sat… would be nice to catch up with each other regularly…
